Bloubergrant Beach
Bloubergrant Beach is situated between Big Bay and Table View Beach. The corner of the beach has some great rock pools to explore. Many photographs are taken of Table Mountain from here, with the waves splashing over the rocks and the mountain in the background. From the beach you can look out into Table Bay as well as look back down the beach at Table View and Milnerton.
The beach is known as a surfing and windsurfing hotspot because of the large waves inspired by the Cape’s southeaster winds.
When the beach is windy, the surf is dominated by the tricks and aerobatic skills of kites surfers and boardsailors.
The conditions here are ideal for these sports as it’s often quite windy and there is plenty of space along the beach to accommodate all the sailors.
When the wind is calm this is a great place to relax and work on your tan. If you’re not out there defying gravity, or trying to perfect a forward loop grab (kite-surfing speak), then there’s a lot going on in the neighbourhood. The beachfront promenade has a wide variety of restaurants and cocktail bars.
Other nearby beaches
Not far away, Little Bay offers more of a venue for families wanting to spend a day relaxing in the sun. Table View has a number of restaurants and venues for sundowners and Dolphin beach is the first of this series of beaches reached from the M14 and is synonymous with kitesurfing. Dolphin Beach or also called Blouberg Beach is in walking distance from Alpha du Cap Guest House.
Milnerton is well known for its lighthouse, which sits virtually on the beach and is great for swimming as, unlike Dolphin Beach, it is manned by lifeguards. There are also a number of beach cafes and restaurants here.
